How to Set Up TikTok Parental Controls

TikTok is an amazing social media application that allows people to interact with other users. However, activity and content on the application cannot be restricted so easily.

If your child has an account on the application, then you probably wish to ensure that your child is safe on the application, and for this, users can use the Safety and privacy features of the application. There is a specific Digital Wellbeing feature that allows users to restrict adult or inappropriate content and also allows users to restrict the time that they spend on the application.

In this guide, we are going to tell you about parental control on TikTok and how you can use the security and privacy features of the application to restrict their movement on the application.

What is the process to Set Up TikTok Parental Controls?

Setting up TikTok parental controls is quite important and involves a number of steps. That said, let’s take a look at different things that you need to do to ensure your child’s safety on TikTok.

  1. Pair your Child’s TikTok

The application has a feature known as Family pairing which allows parents to pair their kids' accounts and change the settings according to their needs. Now, linking your accounts is not very difficult as you simply have to access the ‘Settings and Privacy’ section from the profile of your account.

You will see the option named Family Pairing and then, choose your role which will allow you to get access to your kid’s account. Now, after the pairing, you can easily change the settings of your kid’s account.

  1. Manage Screen Time

The other thing that you can do with TikTok Parental controls is to manage the screen time of your child.

To control the screen time of your kid’s account, you need to access the ‘Settings and Privacy’ section of their account and access the Digital Wellbeing section. Adhere to all the instructions that are given on the screen and choose a passcode that only you know. The limits can be set up to 120 minutes a day and to exceed the limit, they will be required to enter the passcode.

  1. Use the Restricted Mode on TikTok

TikTok Parental controls also permit parents to use the restricted mode. This restricted mode is an amazing feature that will limit the content on the application and ensure that inappropriate content is not visible to your kid.

Once again access TikTok online and look for the Settings and Privacy section. Choose the Digital Wellbeing section and hit the option for the restricted mode. You will be able to see a number of directions available on your screen. Adhere to these instructions if you wish to restrict the appearance of inappropriate content on your child’s TikTok account.

However, ensure that you have the passcode as the feature requires you to enter the passcode if you wish to change the settings.

You can also make the account of your ward private to ensure that not everyone is allowed to view the content uploaded by them.
